The Sway revisit their past with "Twice In A Lifetime"

During the 1990s, there was a lot of great music that was floating about in the alternative scene. Obviously, there are some that survived the melee of acts that were vying for dominance, but some sadly went away... until now! ... a soaring track that feels as fresh now as when it first aired on the BBC in 1995. The Sway are revisiting their past with the release of an older tune, "Twice In a Lifetime". Of course, there are sounds that bring you right back to the scene in the 90s, but this sounds even bigger than what I could have imagined. I loved the guitar soaring away on the intro, and that keyboard tone worked wonders for me. Vocally, it's very fitting for that era, and to be quite honest, the sound is as fresh as it is now as it was back then. There is a huge demand for bands like this in the 2020s, and The Sway have released this at a time when people are looking for that nostalgic flair. There's something about picking up on an artist who has just released their debut single, and when I mean just, literally a few hours ago. The debut single from Sutlej is a raw and emotive introduction to their sound, and the London-based trio sounds like they are meaning business. ... a brooding, atmospheric alt-rock statement that marks the explosive arrival of London’s next must-know trio. The track is fuelled with this brooding vocal tone that reminds me a lot of Palace in places, with other rock-leaning sounds, such as an incredibly atmospheric guitar taking centre-stage, offering even more hints into what future songs could sound like. Boxing Club have recently released their debut EP, "What's the State Done to You?", and the centrepiece song on the release is the edgy cut, "Father and State". ... an urgent indie-rock anthem in the vein of Interpol, Nine Black Alps and Boy Kill Boy that screams future headliners! Based out of both the Glasgow and London scenes, the band have settled on this really urgent indie-rock sound that reminds us a lot of the frantic sounds of Interpol, Nine Black Alps and Boy Kill Boy - I'm showing my age here! It's filled with hooks left, right and centre, big sing-along worthy vocals, danceable beats and an energy that can entice fields of fans to jump up and down in unison. Brighton-based duo Check Mirrors have today burst onto the indie pop scene with their debut single, "Best Ones". The debut single from the duo is a smooth and gentle take on the alt-pop sound that is usually found within their scene. ... a sultry indie-pop debut with "Best Ones", blending jazzy keys, crisp percussion, and Matt Bellamy–esque vocals for late-night vibes. The band has focused a lot here on the dynamic voice of Tim, all the while with it ebbing and flowing over a jazzy key tone, crisp percussion and some sensual basslines. Unlike others on their scene, they're going out and out on their debut single, with a fantastic array of voices heard on here, so good it sounds like a soulful Matt Bellamy. The groove is seductive here, and as the track progresses, it just becomes more infectious. Hastings-based dream-pop outfit Korda Korder return with their new tune this morning, titled "I Was Your Witness", which is once more a great example of why the band are being highly talked about amongst critics. ... a cinematic, shoegaze-tinged dream-pop stunner that proves why they’re one of the South Coast’s most talked-about rising acts. The new offering is the first from the band in 2026, and they're keeping true to the cinematic sound that's got them to where they are today. "I Was Your Witness" is a breathtaking wash of shimmering guitars, expansive synths and hushed, ethereal vocals, with some tones similar to those of the laidback Swim Deep songs, Beach House and Alvvays. The shoegaze and dream-pop sounds are still here, and this effort sounds to us like it could be the one that pushes them into the limelight even more. An emerging new voice from London has recently revealed their debut single. Ana Amado is the singer in question, and her first-ever single, "Dahlia", is now out for all to enjoy. ... a moody, cinematic, and ethereal alternative-pop gem blending nostalgic beats, experimental synths, and mesmerizing vocals. The track kicks off with a cinematic opening that reminded me very specifically of the synthy sounds in some Final Fantasy 7 cut-scenes. With that somewhat unique moment passing, her vocals come in, and it becomes more of an experimental pop track filled with mesmerising electronic moments, sweeping sounds, finger snaps and a subtle addition of nostalgic beats. It's so incredibly moody, cinematic and ethereal all at the same time. Ana is a real gem in the scene in London, with this song no doubt going to fuel her year with excitement. Jacob Rountree delivers a heartfelt journey with his latest single, “Grace.”

Today saw the Bozeman-based singer-songwriter Jacob Rountree deliver his heartfelt new single, "Grace". The new single is his first since his "Truth or Dare" EP was released back in 2024, so think of this as a true return to form. ... a haunting alt-folk single blending acoustic-rock, hauntingly beautiful vocals with pop sensibilities "Grace" is a clear-cut alt-folk track that has some darker tones to it, and even on the intro, I felt like I was sinking into it like a hot knife into butter. His vocals are a real delight, and once the track gets going, it transitions more into an acoustic-rock track with pop sensibilities. I especially liked the handclaps mixed into the beats of the song; to me, it gave it that organic edge that is missing from a lot of modern folk tracks. Of course, the acoustic guitar is dominant in the song, but when the sliding guitars came wallowing away in the background of the song, we had to just commit to it - sensational stuff all...

Rosenthal unveils the dream-pop-driven effort, "Afraid of Stairs"

Coming out of Aarhus in Denmark is the project of multi-instrumentalist Jeppe Kiel Revsbech, Rosenthal, with the atmospheric new single, "Afraid of Stairs". ... hazy, arena-ready dream-pop. With a lot going on, there is of course, going to be a lot to shout about, from the hazy vocal tones wrapped around a shimmering synth spark. To the dreamy guitar sounds that honestly feel like they were written by The 1975 to headline arena shows with. The shadowy textures are, for me, the best thing on this, offering you a sepia and vintage tint to a track that sounds equally fresh and nostalgic in terms of its sound. Be sure to keep an ear out for the industrial-sounding bass; it's a sound we've not heard a lot of before in the shoegaze/dream-pop genres, so it's a real treat - and to be honest, we feel like this works so well others could follow suit too! Coming out of Chester is the indie four-piece Movin' On, and their new single is now with us, giving them a debut single to be proud of. ... a jangly, high-confidence debut single that they can be proud of. The confidence in this song is tremendous, and the sound they've settled on is a classic example of the vibrant indie-rock scene up in the North West of England. Jangly guitars play perfectly with the tight percussion and Elijah's infectious vocal tones. The feeling I had on the first listen was filled with excitement, so if you're about to hear this for the first time, know that I am jealous. Produced at Sugarhouse Studios by Ady Hall and Lee McCarthy, the track balances a lot of sounds that we know will get Movin' On far, so be a part of the journey before everyone starts raving about them. Door d’Or return with the big new tune, "Fibre Optics"

Door d’Or return with a commanding track with the mighty "Fibre Optics". Hailing from Victoria in Canada they don't hang about as the track literally ois ready to rip apart your speakers from the get-go. ... a fuzz-drenched, bass-heavy blast of alt- and psych-rock packed into a fierce sub-three-minute ride. A stonking big bass will fill the room up, laced with loads of fuzz, before the commanding vocals hook you in further. Even though this is a sub-three-minute track, you'll be feeling like you've had a huge dose of alt-rock and psych-rock. I really did like the guitar solo at the midway, and to be honest, it was there I felt like the band warranted a cheeky follow - and sure bet I did, as I found more tunes waiting for me!
