Ukrainian Alt-Pop star Janeuary drops new tune, "Awakening"

Based out of Kyiv in Ukraine is the rising Alt-Pop star Janeuary, and earlier on this month they dropped their stunning new tune, "Awakening". The track is dominated by some soul-touching vocals and captivating violin strings, it's the perfect way to get into this emerging artist and to be honest I found myself swooning over it within the first minute. Absolutely stunning, both vocally and musically. The vocals here are a soft blend of Lana Del Rey's delivery but with the strong range that Florence Welch has, all wrapped up around it is this underlying haze. The strings on the song need to be praised to the moon and back, they really enhance the song and I can see myself falling in love with a strings-only version of the track. With Janeuary's country going through some touch times in recent years this new single acts as a beacon of light for everyone, it's stunning and gives you an overwhelming sense that everything is going to be ok. Coming out of Nottingham is Paper Daisies and the trip has recently dropped their big new tune, "Take What You Need". What makes this track even more amazing is that it's the follow-up to their 2020 debut, so to say that they've been keeping their fans waiting may seem like an understatement. Time to get your grunge on with this fantastic slice of 90s nostalgia! The start of the track is incredibly chunky, and in a way almost offers up an apology to their fans by saying 'Here, enjoy this absolute monster of a riff and huge drums'. It's very early 90s grunge and with the vocals coming in shortly after the intro the track sounds somewhat alt-rock and even post-punk with some of the tones heard. The pace of the track is great and in all honestly, it sounds like the band should be touring all over the UK with their sound. It's time to get your grunge on with this fantastic slice of 90s nostalgia, so be sure to check this track out and their debut too!

Following on from their strong debut single, "Forest Fire", which was released last year is YDEA with their second-ever single, "Lovers Game". A delicate blend of piano keys and soft vocals hushes it way into your ears from the get-go, and when you factor in some electronic swooshes in the background the track presents itself to you as one that can move you from the first listen. Be prepared to get wowed by YDEA and her vocals, and make sure you stick around as this London-based artist is certainly going places. As soon as the chorus hits YDEA's vocals effectively confirm that you'll be staying around until the end of the tune. The power behind her vocals is fantastic, they're fiery but not too much it's off-putting, and angelic that they can reach the inner workings of your soul. Hailing out of the York music scene is emerging singer-songwriter J.J. Chamberlain, and just last week saw him share his debut single, "Eyeballs". ... if you like your rock to be more on the indie-rock side of things with a dreamy underbelly then "Eyeballs" is for you! A big intro to the song kicks things off, and it's baptism that we absolutely adore with it being 50 seconds of pure guitar sounds, cascading drums and quivering basslines. I have to admit even on the first listen I was hooked on the track, and with his smooth vocals, it didn't take long to convince me to invest into the song. The single seemingly gets better with every listen, and each time around you can hear more potential influences, with some comparisons being drawn against the likes of Manic Street Preachers all the way to more dreamy sounds associated with Beach House, but to be frank, if you like your rock to be more on the indie-rock side of things with a dreamy underbelly then "

So, Reverie earlier on in the month unveiled their dreamy new track, "Sentimentality", which is the follow-up to their debut single"Decaying". The new single literally bursts into life with a bright guitar line that twangs its way into your ears, offering a delightful insight into what's to come. ... plenty of nostalgic tones that can transverse multiple generations. Once the vocals come in I feel a big whiff of nostalgia with bands such as The Lightning Seeds and The Smiths but with a delicate balance of hazy tones to balance it all off. The tempo of the track we feel is set perfectly so that you can easily dance along to it in a live setting, but not too much that a mosh-pit will form - it's a happy dreamy take on indie-rock with plenty of nostalgic tones that can transverse multiple generations.

Manchester-based quartet The Rolling People have recently returned with their brand new single, "Before It's Gone". The second single from the band is once again laden with strong guitar tones washing over the intro, giving off some big Brit-Rock vibes, and the sound of the guitar is even more enhanced when the commanding vocals come in. Absolutely massive (and I still feel like that undersells the sound they've got!). I don't want to compare them to Manchester heavyweights such as Oasis, but when you create atmospheric indie-rock with a strong vocal hook embedded in the song that's surrounded by great songwriting it's pretty damn hard not to. The single is out now via LAB Records - which is a great source of new music if you want to explore some of the finest new acts the UK has to offer - and will no doubt be filling up festivals and venues all up and down the country this Summer. We love being there from the very beginning, and artists that we've discovered before their first major release are George Erza, Bastille and now NOISY. A new band from Manchester is looking to join in with their jangly slice of indie-rock. .... this is a fantastic track to launch their career off with. daisychain's debut single, "Stay", is one of the most upbeat debut singles we've heard this year, and with a distinctively early 2000s indie-rock sound about it there is a great nostalgic tone underlining. Having grown up in the early 2000s with the indie scene this shimmering track is very much like the early Bombay Bicycle Club songs mixed with the energy of The Kooks. Being based out of Manchester hasn't got to the band's head it seems as they've kept this rather organic and grounded, but this is a fantastic track to launch their career off with. Back with this third release of the year is Snap Infraction with their new single, "Touch The Sun". The latest offering from the Philadelphia-based trio is more leaning towards the acoustic side of things, possibly even dabbling into the realms of The Beatles' later work too. A wonderful stroll down memory lane with "Touch The Sun". The nostalgic cut is laced with acoustically-driven guitars backed up with a basslike that'll be sure to keep you all warm and cosy on a winter's night. Vocally I felt like I was taken back to the 1970s, more to the point around the time of when The Beatles were coming to an end. It's very power-pop meets early new-wave with the vocal approach, but when it comes to the instrumentation here it's nothing short of crisp and sleek. If you'll be a first-time listener to Snap Infraction then this is one of the best songs to start on, and they've got plenty more where that came from with seasonal tracks to more upbea

Denton's Matthew And The Arrogant Sea just two days ago shared their new tune, "A Little Off", and it comes off the back of a duo of singles that have got people once again talking about this Texas-based outfit. "A Little Off" invites you to immerse yourself in its soothing melodies and find solace in its tranquil allure. The new single starts off with a charming vocal line that reminds me a lot of the slower tracks by The Beatles, and with the flute accompanying it throughout. "A Little Off" has a charming smooth tone for the entirety of the run-time, and don't worry there isn't a sudden burst of energy at the end, it's simply four and a half minutes of pure bliss. "A Little Off" invites you to immerse yourself in its soothing melodies and find solace in its tranquil allure, so do be sure to give them a slice of your time, I'm sure it'll be worth it.
