Coming out of the music scene in Guildford is Zachary Mason, and the new song "Man of the Universe" follows swiftly on from a collection of singles that have already been coming out this year. The new offering is a nostalgic classic rock track with a delightfully smooth opening that reminds me of Dire Straits in places.
... an earworm of an indie rock anthem blending Dire Straits nostalgia with the synth-charged drive of New Order and The Killers.
Once the track really gets going, there is a powerful drumbeat with a smattering of bright tones that reminds me, in fact, of New Order and even The Killers.
Vocally speaking, it's more aligned with the 1980s, with its warm undertones. As the track progresses, you are treated to an absolute earworm of a rock song, with vocals that will have you leaning into the track further as it passes.
With the track having a slight psychedelic edge to it and upbeat angular guitars, it certainly will have the indie rock kid inside of you all happy. Be sure to listen to "Man of the Universe" as soon as you're done here.
