This weekend’s playlist brought to you with love from ourselves and Slate The Disco includes some Indie, some Electro, some emotion and some damn cool Indie-Pop. Enjoy!
It's All Indie: Canterbury – Saviour
Canterbury had their latest song played on Kerrang radio the other day and ever since I’ve been playing it on repeat. After they left their music label they’ve been going from strength to strength. It sure sounds like they’re having fun as this track is filled with great hooks, riffs, and the vocals that got me hooked on them. The single is out on Monday with two B-Sides.
Slate The Disco: Eugene Francis Jnr – Necronomicon
‘Necronomicon’ is the new and wonderfully Electonic Indie-Pop number from Eugene Francis Junior. This track is the first single taken from Eugene’s forthcoming album ‘Death And Das Love Bytes’ out this Autumn, and the follow up to his 2008 album which saw Eugene tour with Coldplay, Todd Lungdren and Tegan & Sara, before selling all he owned and taking off on a 16-month motorcycle trek around the US, Canada and Latin America. Eugene eventually landed in Los Angeles where he began recording the material for the new album.
It's All Indie: Camp America – BMX Dream (featuring Michael Bear & Russell Lissack)
‘BMX Dream’ is a track off Camp America’s new album, the whole album is rammed with collaborations and this track is no exception. It features Michael Bear and Russell Lissack. It’s a Dance track that you can’t dance to, but rather to sit down and listen to and get struck down by how beautiful it is! You can buy the album now on their bandcamp site. You can also listen to the rest of the album there!
Slate The Disco: Fear Of Men – Green Seas
Fear of Men have announced that their next 7? release will be with us on June 18th and released through Sexbeat. The release is limited to 300 copies, and the single ‘Green Sea’ was recorded in a basement studio in Wandsworth in early 2012 and features a musical saw, backwards guitar solo and layers of backing vocals processed through a near dilapidated Echo Chamber. Fear Of Men will be at The great Escape this week and then are scheduled to support Best Coast on their tour in June.
Unanimous: Ivory Seas – Still Brooding
Ivory Seas have put up a new track for you all to listen to. After winning us over with their track ‘Boundary’ and Richard Fromby’s re-mixed edit of the same song we’ve got another song to associate them with. This track was also recorded with Mr Formby and if this is the first time you’ve laid ears upon them, you’re sure going to love them! More importantly, Ivory Seas will be making their Cambridge début as part of Slate’s first ever Friday night shindig, alongside DTSP and Model Staggs, June 8th, Portland Arms Cambridge, in what promises to be an epic night!
