One to visit... Dockville

The Docks that Rocks!

Hamburg is one of those sacred city’s that every music fan should be encouraged to visit, not just because of it was the origin of The Beatles early career but because it actually has an exciting music scene hosted by excellent venues (Molotow, Uebel & Gefährlich) with enthusiastic fans and also great festivals!

No, I am not talking about the Reeperbahn festival, there is another exciting festival that is fast becoming the best festival in Germany!

MS Dockville started as a one day festival in 2007 and has flowered massively over the past 9 years into a beautiful and unique three day extravaganza (19th – 21st August 2016) with an incredible line up.

Based in the Wilhelmsburg area of Hamburg, distinctively surrounded by warehouses,
dockland buildings and a waterfront it is fast becoming one of Germany’s most iconic music festivals.

Yet, it is still a hidden gem on the international festival circuit but I am sure word of mouth will soon spread like a wild fire.

The Music

One thing to note is that this line up is incredible. It has such a variety of eclectic acts that there will be something for everyone to enjoy.

Friday begins with the likes of indie pop princes Bastille supported by the popular Milky Chance, The Neighbourhood, RY X, Unknown Mortal Ochestra, David August, Matt Corby plus many more.

Saturday has the enormous indie kings Foals headlining with Crystal Fighters, the delicate and beautiful charm of Aurora, Bilderbuch, OK Kid and London’s Beaty Heart on the bill.

And Sunday finishes you off nicely with Kakkmaddafakka, Half Moon Run, Frittenbude, Die Nerven and the awesome Spanish quartet Hinds.

My must see acts for each day are:

Friday – Bastille / Unknown Mortal Orchestra
Saturday – Foals (Seriously do not miss them ripping through the What Went Down LP)
Sunday – Hinds

There are still some tickets available!
Friday day tickets are €65.60 and Sunday day tickets are €43.60

Weekend tickets / Saturday day tickets are sold out!

If you missed out on camping at this festival then give the uber trendy and super comfortable Superbude a shout – they have two incredible hotels in the Hamburg area.
