Mojo JNR drops dreamy debut single "Miles Away"

Mojo JNR has recently dropped his dreamy debut single "Miles Away", which is his first release on Spotify. Mojo JNR is the solo project of Josh David-Read (who's also the singer/songwriter for Cactus Haus).

Josh is based in the Welsh city of Swansea, and that's where this track was written, he started penning it at the start of the Covid-19 lockdown in the UK and ultimately he recorded this entirely in his student bedroom., with Josh having an epic view of Swansea Bay - helping him give inspiration to this gem of a track.

"Miles Away" has some incredibly thick basslines intertwined with dreamy guitar hooks that draw you in right from the off. Laced with some hazy vocals that remind us of a blend of surf-pop anthems and Tame Impala style psychedelica to give it more depth.

Speaking about the track Josh says - "The music was inspired by my fascination with bands like Big Thief, Courtney Barnett and Phoebe Bridgers all of whom I am a massive fan. The lyrics were influenced by a book called Pan by Knut Hamsen."

His laid back approach to his music but this track sounds like it's really come together, even the tambourine in the latter third of the track is a nice addition, giving the listener more things to keep their ears tuned into.

The dark and ghostly vocals towards the end give you a long lasting impression that will make you instantly hit play again! This is his first ever release as a solo artist and by the sounds of it he will be making more dreamy cuts in the future. If you love this be sure to follow him on Spotify and give the track some low!
