After a trio of singles since launching Garvie has now dropped his catchy new pop tune "What Do You Want". The new cut is an out and out pop tune with some glistening vocals and licks of guitars, it may seem like a simple song from the first play but it's far more than that.
"What Did You Want" is one of those tracks that you'll be able to relate to so much if you're young and in the UK, if not you'll no doubt love it as it's a relaxed alt-pop bop.
The track addresses the seemingly unvarying negative press aimed at younger people in the UK, with the lyrics "You raised us, taught us how to stand up, to speak out what did you want?" - and as a younger person in the UK I feel that the press focuses far too much on the generation that's been through a pandemic, with no chances to own a house and have ever-increasing living standards - so I can relate to this track so damn much.
Garvie has incorporated his love of Glass Animals with some off-kilter pop beats and soulful vocals. "What Did You Want" is one of those tracks that you'll be able to relate to so much if you're young and in the UK, if not you'll no doubt love it as it's a relaxed alt-pop bop.
With love from BBC Introducing, BBC Radio 6 Music and Amazing Radio (both in the USA and UK) there's no stopping him. With every release the tracks get more plays, so keep an eye on him!
