Manchester's Jamie Ferguson earlier on this month unveiled his soothing new single, "Moving On", which is his first since 2019 - and my goodness it's a great comeback single. He has already had this song picked up by several Spotify playlists and no wonder why, it's a rather charming cut with some dreamy brit-pop come psychedelic nods.
Speaking about the new single Jamie mentions - "The song was written in my first year of Uni when I was really struggling to find myself. I didn't know what I wanted to do or who my friends were. I guess it just sums up that feeling of displacement which is common at that specific time of your life."
The intro to the song is a steady build-up, fading in before his vocals take over your ears. The smooth basslines and gentle guitar tones work so well with one another and when you add in the crisp drum beats it's not far off a classic Brit-Pop track from the mid-90s. It's a rather sonic track with some hints of guitar elements found in slower Oasis tracks, but one thing is for sure is that it'll be leaving a big impression on you when it finishes.
