Hailing from Cesena in the gorgeous Emilia-Romagna region of Italy is merrymount! and recently they have released their new single "The state I'm In". The new release is the quartet's first slice of new music since the release of their debut album "Heart of Universe" back in 2018, and it sounds like they've never left.
It's a big track with big vocals, the sound can easily fill up arenas all over the world!
The song is very dreamy, very shoegaze and is laced with fuzzy guitars that'll make Johnny Marr proud to call his own. Opening the track is a very 'echoy' wash of a single guitar before it bursts into life with the lead guitar and cascading drums.
Speaking about the release merrymount! mentions - "Music's been keeping us together for a long time now, despite the fact we live in different cities. First draft of the song had a folkish acoustic mood that evolved naturally when we first approached the song in the studio."
