Transmissions drop upbeat new tune, "Mermaid"

At the tail-end of January this year saw the new release from Transmissions, "Mermaid", and it acts as the first since since the release of their debut album back in May of 2022. The band is not hanging about with new music as this is not just a single, but the first track to be lifted off their second album (as yet untitled).

It's such an upbeat and fun affair, and with plenty more tunes coming I'm sure they're heading into a direction where they'll be noticed by plenty of people!

Speaking about the track they say - " ... "Mermaid" is the tale of a drunkard stumbling upon a mermaid, who then sends him on a quest to earn her affection, which he declines but inadvertently fulfils."

Musically this reminds me of the era when Indie-rock was at it's finest, with hints of Franz Ferdinand in the guitars, Art Brut with the vocal hooks and honest vocals and Reverend and the Makers with how you can easily imagine the track in your head.
