Based out of North Carolina is rising singer-songwriter Casey Austin Allen, and not too long ago saw the singer release his new single, "Calming Myself Down". The new cut is just his second release - following swiftly on from his debut single "Lost In My Mind".
... this new cut may be the calling card for new listeners to fall in love with his brand of dark synth-pop.
"Calming Myself Down" opens up with this haunting vocal echoing away, but it's not too long before this simplistic drumbeat enters the fold. Simplistic yes, but it goes a long way in adding lots of atmosphere to proceedings.
The somewhat dreamy key tones heard in the track are a rather delightful addition to the track, and when you combine that with the production values the track starts to become a favourite of yours (as it did to us when we played it for the first time). Having been in bands before it's very clear that Casey knows what he is doing, and this new cut may be the calling card for new listeners to fall in love with his brand of dark synth-pop.
