Edinburgh-based Ewan Patrick last week shared his new single, "Okay / Not Okay", and right from the outset it's one of those charging rock anthems. The rising singer-songwriter has already been championed by the likes of BBC Radio 1 and Radio 2, which comes to no surprise in all fairness.
Ewan is an emerging artist who can quite easily explode out of the Scottish rock scene.
The way that hits me is a bit like how I discovered Biffy Clyro, a bit of an open mind that was ready to have their mind blown away. The sheer tempo of the song and the charge in the vocals on their own is enough to entice a whole festival field worth of people jumping up and down in unison.
Speaking about the song Ewan says - "Lyrically the song is inspired by my work with young people that are experiencing behavioural challenges. One of the strategies used to support is known as an 'Okay / Not Okay' behaviour plan. This got me thinking more widely about okay and not okay behaviours that we all experience in life and how they can impact on one's self-esteem and overall well-being."
The fact that this song covers Grunge, Post-Punk and Alt-Rock genres is absolutely stunning and is a great gateway song to easily get into this emerging artist who can quite easily explode out of the Scottish rock scene.
