Finn Doherty releases his debut EP, "if you're bored of this city"

The rising London-based singer-songwriter that is Finn Doherty released his debut EP, "if you're bored of this city" just this Friday, and now we've spent the weekend with it here are our thoughts - spoiler alert, we like it (a lot).

If you like the smooth production and downright sexy vibes of Glass Animals then Finn Doherty could quite be the new artist you've all been looking for.

The EP kicks off with a dreamy song titled "Intro" which is ever-so-fitting and with it's dreamy tones and gentle key tones it acts as a teaser for what's next.  The tune then blends perfectly into the following track "~ long nights with your eyes~" this is the first time we set our ears on the smooth tones that Finn has, and honestly, it's not long until we realise that he may be the next big thing.

If you like the smooth production and downright sexy vibes of Glass Animals then Finn Doherty could quite be the new artist you've all been looking for.

The middle of the EP features a couple of tracks that Finn previously released, the RnB and bass-heavy "Drop My Guard" and the smooth offering "KMU", with both of these tracks once again showcasing the variety of sounds that Finn can produce.

The fifth track takes a more acoustic and raw approach with "~ your love won't take me home~" revealing the more tender side of his music, it's just acoustic guitar, his vocals and a slight smattering of electronic swirling sounds - with it giving me some The 1975 sort of sound in places too.

"Figure It Out" is more of a hyperpop song than the previous ones, and the addition of a more obvious 'auto-tune' on his vocals is once again a masterstroke as it's here we feel this is less of an EP but more of a teaser for the big music labels as the range of tracks he's got on this is amazing.

Closing it out is a ballad of sorts in the form of "Call It Off", the track features some off-kilter drumbeats like Radiohead would use back in the 2010s, wonky basslines and a sound that has so much potential for radio, if anything it sounds like the previous tracks on the EP all rolled into one.
