Released just earlier this month was Katie Wighton's brand new single, "Real Thing", which is her second single to come out after her debut album came out back in 2023. The new single from the Melbourne-based singer-songwriter is one of the most cohesive tracks I've heard coming out of Australia in recent months, and it's no wonder as Katie is a part of the iconic ARIA-award winning folk outfit All Our Exes Live in Texas!

The slightly grunge-sounding acoustic guitar that starts off the song is properly chunky, but when her vocals come in shortly after you'll feel yourself melt into your seat. Within the song, you will also find a small amount of synth, wobbly guitar effects and a bassline that'll be reverberating through you for the entire duration.
There is a huge sense of nostalgia surrounding this track, so if you like your 90s alt-rock then "Real Thing" could be that new cut you've been craving for.
