Hailing from France is a rising new duo, The Tact, and they've recently revealed their debut single, "Underflow". The edgy new tune reminds me a lot of the Indie-Rock scene in the late 2000s, it's got spikey guitar bursts mixed with a tight percussion section.
Edgy and full of spicey hooks.
Vocally it's also leaning towards that era, and to be honest, I absolutely love it. The chorus has some handclaps too, which adds to the whole experience and for me I can see this working so well in the live setting.
The duo is formed by Nico et Charles Germain, a father and son duo (who met 15 years ago when Charles was born, of course) and have been making music together since 2022. If you love the swagger that you find in the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and the upbeat edginess of Franz Ferdinand then you'll really love the sound that the Tact have.
Speaking of the song the band says - "The lyrics express the relationships of domination imposed by conservative thought."
