Released just this morning was Olivia Booth's new single, "I'm Not Yours", and the new track is the type that's gripping from the first play.
... a raw, hook-filled indie-rock anthem.
It's vocally raw with plenty of indie-rock sensibilities when it comes to the instrumentation. The whole track is covered in this glossy pop-sheen that brings all of the sounds to life, and it's so addictive that I pressed the repeat button way before the track was finished.
The chorus is laden with hooks, with Booth taking us on a trip all about a night gone wrong, turning it into a powerful story of survival, pairing her strong lyrics with commanding vocals and driving guitars.
Released on International Violence Against Women Day (today, 25th November) the track means a lot to her and will no doubt help the cause even more.
A thoroughly honest, urgent, and unforgettable song, "I'm Not Yours" reinforces Olivia Booth as a rising artist who is going to be at the helm of modern indie in Manchester - and possibly way beyond too!
