Based out of Birmingham is Freddie Perry, and recently the singer-songwriter has revealed his debut single, "WHAT EVEN IS LIFE?".
... a warm, raw alt-pop track brimming with indie-rock flair and big national potential.
The single is a bold statement, and it certainly does not sound like a first song type of cut. It's got this warm alt-pop feel thanks to his lovely voice and acoustic guitar stylings. All recorded at home, it also leans into that with a raw feel, which helps to keep it grounded, much like the early Declan McKenna tracks sounded like.
Add in some subtle indie-rock tones and the track is a big statement of intent from an artist who sounds like they are about to rise up out of Birmingham onto the national scene, so be sure to playlist this track as soon as you can. An impressive debut for sure!
