"Mind Riot", a high-energy three-piece from Detroit, United States, dropped their mega debut offering, "Big Talker". They make quite a lot of noise considering they are just a three-piece. ... a thunderous debut that hits like a freight train and refuses to let go. The debut track does not hang about, with a punching drum kit welcoming you in with a chunky guitar and bass shortly following. The vocals are a big reason why I stuck around, and once they came in, I was nodding along in agreement. It sounds a bit 80s to early 90s at times, with some almost hair metal riffs that will definitely have you smashing your head around regardless of the environment you're in. There are plenty of guitar solos dotted all over the track, too, and even though this is the first offering, they have plenty of hooks in this to lure you into their sound. I can't get over how good this sounds, considering it is their debut offering. I can't imagine what this trio are going to...

The vocal performance on this is stunning. The song is all about breaking free from monotony, something that I have done a few times, trying to break free from that thing that's keeping you down, trying to be something new, trying to bite the bullet and just take things headfirst. Bursting out of the Stockport scene is The Maddocks and today sees them drop their frantic new cut, "This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things". The single actually acts as their debut, and flip me like an egg this is good. As far as debut singles go they usually are the best as the band has not got anything to compare themselves to, and as far as I'm concerned there's no pressure either. The Maddocks are here and are now going anywhere any time soon, if this is what they're capable out of the blocks then I can see them being the next band to break out of Greater Manchester. What this new quartet has done on their first single is pave the way for them to be one of the next biggest acts from the North of England, possibly topping fellow Stockport indie darlings, Blossoms. With chunky guitar tones, anthemic vocals and a real drive from the percussive side the track is frantic but is incredibly danceable.
