Bursting out of the York music scene is Rosso Tierney, and the new song from the multi-instrumentalist is a high-octane alternative rock song with plenty of grit. ... a high-octane, cinematic rock anthem packed with mid-noughties nostalgia, fiery guitars, and explosive energy. You can really hear how powerful the track is way before it fully gets going. The intro alone reminds me of those songs that you would hear in the mid-noughties on the FIFA soundtracks. Based out of Nottingham in England is five-piece Spiral Orbit recently revealed their strong new track titled "Isolation Zone". The new cut from the band is their second of the year, and the intro alone was enough for me to give the song a chance, as it reminds me a lot of New Order and The Killers, especially when the synths come in after a few seconds. ... a synth-charged, '80s-inspired rock anthem that turns pandemic uncertainty into an uplifting, high-energy payoff. With the aforementioned similarities to New Order, this track really does have a big late '80s synth-rock feel to it, with the vocal hooks also sounding like they have been cherry-picked from that era. Add in some more '70s glam rock-sounding synths and what you have here is a track that is incredibly nostalgic and yet feels as fresh as anything else out in the world right now.
