Scraping their traditional slow-paced, intimate melodies; MMX appear to have come back with a more layered track that explores a range of vocals and hints at a more tropical sound compared to their initial tracks back in 2012. Which is allowing their focus to be on a bigger build-up and leading to an ending that is similar to a mix of singles put together by Foals and White Lies.
The band use to go around as a Pop-Rock band back in the day, but they've now left that period of their lives behind and we welcome them with open arms. They've already opened the Reading Festival this year supported The 1975 on tour and are set to embark on a UK tour next year.
Their single "Only" is a song that demonstrates that MMX are pretty much on top form. With an extremely good back catalogue to support them, we could see the band getting a bit more attention like they deserve. One thing's for sure, we're most certainly seeing a lighter side to the music full of volume. We're expecting a new EP in 2014, or so what I was lead to belive when I spoke to them earlier this year.
