Gig Review... Wild Cub @ Brixton Academy, 11th January 2014

Wild Cub - the quintet from Nashville in sunny USA - were the opening acts for The 1975's final date at Brixton Academy, and boy were they amazing! Their upbeat tracks certainly got the attention of the crowd with bopping from the generally young crowd and hands a lot clapping along to the songs. Clearly the highlight of the set for me as "Thunder Clatter" - which you can listen to below, and some of their songs that feature on their début album which we reviewed a while back.

Comparisons from members of the crowd that I spoke to were, Dire Straights, New Order, Talking Heads and Two Door Cinema Club. The latter was a young teenage girl but the former of the list was very accurate in my opinion. They certainly have the tracks to capture the crowds attention from all angles, the retro feel to some of their songs and the bouncy, sharp radio friendly anthems such as "Thunder Clatter".

They're playing The Sebright Arms tomorrow night (13th January) so get on down if you can, they're such a delight to watch!
