Introducing... Aztecs

AZTECS (John Steele, John Dell) are an indie infused electro pop duo from Ashbourne, Derbyshire, by drawing inspiration from the likes of The Cure, Arcade Fire and CHVRCHES they are beginning to forge a new genre of indie pop by throwing their catchy hooks, rich harmony's, bold base lines and 80's synths into the furnace.

JD and Steele both have a keen eye for songwriting after drawing much experience from their time with their previous four piece project SIBLINGS. After achieving great success with their singles FOOLS and COLOURS which were both aired on Radio 1 (Jen and Ally/Phil and Alice), Radio 2 (Jo Whiley, Jeremy Vine) and 6 music (Steve Lamacq, Tom Robinson), they went on to play a host of festivals including a much coveted slot on the Glastonbury BBC introducing stage in 2013.

On June the 9th AZTECS will be releasing their debut EP entitled 'Ice Cream'. With every track describing an insatiable appetite, JD and Steele’s myriad references only add to the beguiling nature of their music. Stand out tracks include the debut single 'Bad Blood' and their EP's title track 'Ice Cream'. 'Ice Cream' is an uptempo gluttonous romp of a song. An 80s soundtrack for a heady summer, chocka with soaring synths and calypso guitar riffs while an insistent synth arpeggio beckons for more, more, more always wanting more and settling for no less.

AZTECS are definitely ones to watch, with a busy schedule of gigs and festival on the horizon, they will be with no shadow of a doubt in my summer playlist for 2014.
