Introducing... Carnabells

Since the rise of the Arctic Monkeys and their well-known 'bedroom to stardom' story, it's become the key route to success over the last decade and now there's another band following in the same footsteps.

Carnabells are a band making a real impact on the northern music scene and specifically in Leeds, but it's noted that this could go down as their best Summer ever. With slots on the BBC Introducing stage at Glastonbury, the chance to open the Festival Republic stage at both Reading and Leeds and now a headlining set at Club NME at Camden's KOKO this September. It's safe to say that it has picked up for the band a couple of levels over the last couple of months.

Their classic Rock and Roll sound hasn't gone unnoticed, it seems. With a following that grows rapidly and a strong couple of years behind them, the Leeds based band have featured on many blogs that track unsigned artists but with hits like Call The Sunshine and Magazine Dream under their belt, it's now down to all music listeners to pay attention and listen carefully. We're giving you a heads up right on time as they progress as a band and with their careers.

Their set at Reading demonstrated a clear passion for what they do and a clean knowledge of what works for them. As a result, they release a clear and pristine sound through the sound system - forcing more and more people to walk into the tent to watch a band grow within the space of 20 minutes or so. It's clear that as a five-piece, they are now a force to be reckoned with and we have no doubt that thinks are going to pick up even more in the next year.

They've just featured on 'BBC 6 Music recommends...with Steve Lamacq' with 'Carnabells... The Story So Far' which offers a small insight into the band. You can listen to that here.
