Waste today opened the annual festival in the tiny village of Standon. Nestling in the rolling hills in Hertfordshire just off the A10 and only a few miles away from London, Standon Calling is one of the best 'small' festivals around. And Waste today opened up the weekend after winning a competition.
The band from Stevenage - not far from Standon - played a solid set of energetic songs, some reminiscent of a young Arctic Monkeys crossed with vocals that reminded us of Damon Albarn's Gorillaz project. With a solid fan-base down the front the band were lapping up the attention, the highlight of the set was their track "Blow" - which we had as our 'Track of the week' earlier in the year - and as more and more people gathered towards the end of their set.
Finishing off with a solid new track expect to see them on the bill next year, and hopefully more festivals too!
