Track of the week... The Courtesans - The Power of Love

London-based all-female Doom-Pop troublemakers - The Courtesans - have covered Frankie Goes To Hollywood's timeless Christmas piece, "The Power of Love", which was first released 30 years ago. They've taken the cover to the next level, while most bands simply cover a track, style for style, The Courtesans have put their own sound of 'Doom-Pop' (as they call it) onto the track, adding dramatic effect.

The band have also shared the video for the cover, and you can watch the dark-pop synth heavy cover below! The girls are hotly tipped this year to be rising through the ranks and are playing a selection of shows in February as a warm up for the rest of the year. "The Power of Love" is one of the most direct proclamation of romantic love we can expect from The Courtesans. Dramatic yet dark and  sweet. The band will be spreading love this year and after the madness of December, this is the perfect track to start our 'Track of the year' section off with.
