Orphan Boy have announced that their new single will be From The Provinces, due out on June 22nd. Their album, Coastal Tones, will be released beforehand via Concrete Recordings on May 25th.
From The Provinces comes just in time for the Summer with an uplifting vibe and a synth-pop kind of tone. Orphan Boy's single holds resemblance to old school anthems like New Order, although this brings it straight into the 21st century with something extra and an easy to sing-a-long to chorus. The second single from Coastal Tones also comes complete with a moment for a darkened bass line to shine and an opportunity for everyone to clap their hands at a live show. It seems Orphan Boy found the formula for a popular song, haven't they?
Rob Cross, the vocalist, also said this was an "anthem for small, unsung towns" and how they are "culturally empowered thanks to the internet age". It seems a song as big as this has an eye-opening, defining cause behind it which allows the lyrics to carry themselves and flow.
The foursome are also going appearing at various places around the country. You can see them at the following places:
June
18th Hitchin, Club 85
20th Stoke, The Brown Jug
July
31st Derby, DE1 Festival
September
12th Manchester, Sound Control
