[SOUNDS OF 2017] - #16 - Eau Rouge

After stumbling upon their album a few months early thanks to a pre-stream, I instantly fell in love with Eau Rouge, not just because of their name (I love Formula One and this is a mighty corner on a circuit they race at... anyway)

The Stuttgart-based trio have spent the year touring all over Europe as well as performing at this year’s SXSW in Austin, Texas, and have already shared the stage with the likes of The National, Warpaint, Blood Red Shoes, Crystal Fighters and SBTRKT, toured Sweden and played at festivals including Stuttgart Festival, Sound of the Forest amongst others. With a sound that is the love-child between alternative-rock, dream pop and indietronica Eau Rouge draw influence from the likes of Muse, Placebo, Warpaint, Boys Noize, Justice and M83.

Jonas' voice is bright, passionate, yet dark and somewhat elegiac. Bo's guitars give birth to a unique arrangement of sounds, guitar-heavy and densely layered whilst Magnus' drums are dynamic, yet fragile. The sounds of their romantic odes to the perfect night are melancholic and haunting. Benedikt Maile who they call the fourth band member is in charge of the production of most of their music.

2016 saw them release their début album in their native Germany but 2017 will see them push the boundaries even more with a UK release of the LP due in the coming months and a whole world waiting to unearth their fantastic sounds.
