Newcastle's Mat Hunsley last week revealed his dreamy single, "Friend & Foe", which is his second song of 2021. The singer-songwriter bit fame with his 2016 single "Dropping", reaching well over 600k streams on Spotify alone, and after listening to this new track it's no wonder why people tuned in to listen to his craft.
His vocals remind me of a mash between Dan Croll and Benjamin Francis Leftwich, musically he leans more towards the realms of dream-pop. With smooth and wallowing synths in the background and airy piano keys, there are lots to chew over. Add in shakers and sweet licks of acoustic guitar and you've got a track you can easily close your eyes to and get truly lost in.
