Hailing from Galway, Ireland we have emerging singer-songwriter smythy with his hazy new indie-pop cut "gets me down". "gets me down" is his third single to date and follows on from two strong outings so far. The basslines at the start of the song remind me a bit of New Order in parts which instantly gets me interested, maybe it was a happy accident but I personally love it.
The chorus is so gorgeous too, the hazy vocals are wrapped up with some lo-fi surf-pop vibes. If someone asked me for an emerging act from Ireland I'd have to say smythy, the music he seems to release is of such a high quality and I can easily see him getting onto the big Spotify editorial playlists - and in turn, gaining a solid fanbase!
