South Africa for me is a very big untapped scene of bands and acts singing in the English language, we all think about the UK, USA, Australia and even New Zealand, yet we all forget about the land at the Southern tip of the African continent, and one of those bands we've stumbled-upon recently is the fantastic An Awkward Social.
"Once It's Over" sounds like the track that'll push An Awkward Social into the limelight.
An Awkward Social's newest single is titled "Once It's Over" and instantly reminds me a bit of Talking Heads mixed with the alt-beats of Jungle and even Everything Everything.
The addition of the steel drums and brass section in the song for me brings it to life and sets it apart from the other bands in the scene in South Africa, let alone in Cape Town. One word to describe "Once It's Over" is vibrant, you can easily see An Awkward Social performing this song to a backdrop of Table Mountain with the sunset and a blue sky.
