The Cookie Jar Complot unveils brand single, "Cookies"

Luxembourg's very own The Cookie Jar Complot are back and they have recently unveiled their AA-side single, "Cookies". The release is the first since their 2021 EP "CAVIAR CAPITAL" and brings them right back into the fold with an amazing couple of singles.

"pure guitar heaven"

The opening track of the release is "Cookies" which is a lesson in how to do an intro in an indie-rock song, it's borderline perfect with a spacey and reverbed out guitar tone wafting away before it gives way to a tight drumline and strong high toned guitars (something you'd expect to hear on a Foals track). In times you forget that the band only does instrumentals as it's so captivating, and especially in the latter third where "Cookies" becomes a wall of sound and pure guitar heaven with a dash of brass.

The second half of the single is a self-titled track, this one is more punk orientate and angular with a dance-ready drumbeat that gives us strong hints of their influences, I hear Bloc Party mixed with the urgency of Two Door Cinema Club's work. The track is something any post-punk revival fan would love, so if that's your thing then welcome to the world of The Cookie Jar Complot.
