Mardi Lumsden releases synthy new number, "nineteen"

The third single of 2022 from Brisbane singer-songwriter Mardi Lumsden is titled "nineteen" and is a synth-heavy pop bop with lots of shimmering tones.

There are many synths bouncing off of one another in the song's opening, which, in my opinion, brilliantly sets up the tune. Add in the drum fills, which sound like they were lifted straight out of an 80s Rick Astley song, and you're starting to get excited.
With praise from Triple J and several blogs Mardi's music is really starting to win over a lot of fans and critics alike.

With the airy synths complementing her vocal cords, Mardi possesses an ethereal set of lungs that are both authoritative and yet not too harsh. The single is set to feature on her upcoming album - date TBC - and was written with influences from the likes of M83 and The Weekend. Speaking about the song Mardi mentions - "This song was part of a song-a-week songwriting challenge I did with husband/collaborator/ producer Andrew Pennay in 2020/2021."

With praise from Triple J and several blogs Mardi's music is really starting to win over a lot of fans and critics alike. There should be much more music in the coming months too, so do be sure to follow her on Spotify to stay in the loop.
