Lucas Köksal unveils his new single, "eye to eye"

The Ontario-based singer-songwriter Lucas Köksal just last month unveiled his new single, "eye to eye", with it being his first outing since 2022's "Goodbye". Speaking about the song Lucas says - " ... I created “eye to eye” during the Summer of 2023 when I first started using analog recording gear. This is also my first single release under AWAL and it will become part of my debut EP. The EP explores themes of isolation and a search for meaning. It contains 5 songs and will be released in Summer 2024." The song is a high-tempo example of how to take dream-pop sounds and make them danceable. The independent artist has a wealth of genres in his music, and even from the intro alone you can hear a blend of multiple alternative sub-genres floating about. Based out of Nashville, TN is the sublime Kelley Cole and today she has released her stunning new single, "twenty five".It's rather obvious from the get-go that Kelley's vocals are the main point of focus for new listeners, they're laid upon some tender organic instruments and if I'm being honest that only enhances the feel of the song. ...powerful, emotive and theatrical but with a solid indie-rock vibe underlining it all. Plenty of strings are heard throughout the song, and a fantastic guitar tone is heard before the first chorus hits the track feels elevated and borderline anthemic. The way it evolves before your ears is amazing too, it's like 'ok you like this, you'll love what's next'. Towards the end, it feels more like a song that the likes of Sigrid would write, powerful, emotive and theatrical but with a solid indie-rock vibe underlining it all.

bikethrasher drop their new single, "Telepathetic"

bikethrasher earlier on today dropped their new single, "Telepathetic", which is hot off the heels of their AA-side single released earlier in the year. If you're a fan of early-mid 90s rock music, such as Reef and Nirvana then you'll love these lot, so stick around. The retro-sounding song really took me back to the 1990s with the sound of the guitars in the intro seducing me like Pamela Anderson seduced teenage boys in the same era. The thrill of the song is surreal with a drumbeat that'll no doubt cause a fair few moshpits when the band performs it live. Even though the song is just a touch over two minutes long it left a lasting impression on me, it's short but sweet and is a great example of bikethrasher's nostalgic sound, so if you like this type of music there's loads more on their Spotify.

Shai Brides unveils their upbeat new single, "Little Things"

Since their first single dropped in 2019 Shai Brides have been consistently been releasing upbeat slices if indie-pop perfection, and today the band has unveiled their equally upbeat new single, "Little Things". Infectious indie-pop, you'll be bopping along in no time. If you are fans of Fickle Friends, The 1975 and Pale Waves then Shai Brides sounds is the best of all three of those bands, wrapped up in one nostalgic-sounding bow. The energetic start to the song almost got me in as a fan, it's so angular and with the frantic drumbeat I was already tapping along before I knew it. Vocally it's so strong with both female and male vocals on show, and it works so well. Abby London releases her dreamy new single, "War to Peace"

The Seattle-based singer-songwriter Abby London has today released her dreamy new single, "War to Peace". Following Abby releasing her first single back in 2020 it's been a solid rise for this aspiring vocalist. One key element that's got her where she is today is that her vocals, they're so commanding, smooth and captivating. Commanding vocals with plenty of emotion. Speaking about the song Abby mentions " ... it is a celebratory triumph of breaking the destructive patterns of being victimized." The blend of alternative electronic sounds, sweeping synth tones mixed in with piano keys and her angelic vocals means that you will be captivated within the first minute. The lyrics can resonate with anyone who has ever been struggling and are sung with such emotion too. The darker side to her music is a revelation as we get to focus on her voice more, but regardless of that, you need to check out her other songs if you like to be wowed.
