Wakey Wakey Rise & Shine shares the dreamy "Softly Softly Catchy Monkey"

Bristol quartet Wakey Wakey Rise & Shine today has shared their dreamy alt-pop track, "Softly Softly Catchy Monkey", which is their first single since 2020's "Overtime".

"Softly Softly Catchy Monkey" has some nods of Everything Everything with the arty sound of the guitars to the thick and sexy basslines. Vocally it's stunning with Smudger Lewis leading the way with deep tones similar to that of Future Islands footman Samuel T Herring.

Speaking about the song Smudger Lewis mentions - "I tried writing a song title as ridiculous as the band’s name without getting my eyes wet. I then threw in a couple of references to road signs and travel so the song is literally all over the place. Which is what we set out to achieve when writing it and it feels like we have captured a frenetic feel when performing it at our live shows"

They've been a part of the Bristol music scene for a while now and are well known locally, but this song sounds like it'll be pushing their sound to new audiences. If this song is as vibrant and as exciting as their live shows then it sounds like we need to head down to a show as soon as possible, so if you love what you hear (like we do) give them a follow on the socials to stay in the loop with their future releases and live shows.
