San Diego's latest act to come out of the scene is birthdayboy, and their debut single is now out for all to hear. "Salting Slugs" is the track in question and is a 'twisted lullaby' according to their press release.

You'd not think that this song is an emo tune in the beginning as the vocals are very dreamy with the instruments suggesting it'll be a lo-fi indie-pop bop. But as the track goes on you click onto the fact this is an anti-love song, and with the lyrics "salting slugs at your door", which is quite sadistic and somewhat evil, we go onto the line "is she as ugly as her shoes" not far from that, which to be honest is a putdown that I love!
It's part dreamy, lo-fi and emo all wrapped up in one, and keeps you on edge right until the very end. The band has already found themselves placed in a handful of playlists on Spotify, which is pretty good for a debut track, and if they keep on releasing music at the same quality as this then they'll be big in no time.
