Coming out of a sleepy town in Country Clare in Ireland called Ennis is Torpey, and just this Friday gone he dropped his charming new single, "This Old Road". It's clear as the song starts playing that this is one heck of a track, and I have to admit I was hooked by the intro alone.
"This Old Road" is a jangly indie-rock come folk-pop track that'll almost certainly win your heart and ears.
Once Torpey's vocals come in it's like an angel has flown down and has sung along to a folk song, the emotions here are simply sensational and with the subtle backing vocals adding depth, it's something that can easily grip you and then turn you into a fan.
Having started writing music when he was 16 he was influenced by the likes of Oasis and The Beatles, and you can hear the former in the track with some underlying Brit-Pop tones ebbing and flowing throughout the duration of "This Old Road".
