Coming out of North Vancouver is singer-songwriter Piper Cole, and just under a week ago saw her drop her dreamy and vibrant new single, "Gravity".
Speaking about the song Piper mentions - "I wanted to write a song that made me feel happy inside when I heard it. I thought of upbeat tempos and I was drawn to retro synths and an uplifting chorus".
The thick synth tones that roll over the track at the beginning really does set the tone for the rest of the single. Vocally what we have is something that can only really be described as angelic and electronically charged, and we've heard that before with Grimes' work back in 2019-2021, incidentally who also hails from Vancouver.
All self-written, self-produced, and self-performed, Piper Cole is a true jewel in the British Columbia music scene, and in the future I can see her flying the flag for Canada if she keeps up this sort of quality.
