Hailing from the East Coast of the USA is rising singer-songwriter Lauren Minear with her new single, "The Way It Was". Released today the new cut is her first full single of the year, with a string of remix singles and live sessions being released too.
With vocals that remind me of Dido, strong guitar hooks and a tempo that'll keep you guessing.
"The Way It Was" opens things up with a bang, you've got a in-your-face drumbeat and guitar tone screaming its way into your ears. However, once Lauren's vocals come in the track mellows out a bit and it then turns into a sing-along-worthy pop-rock anthem.
The chorus especially is a delight to your ears, with the chorus focusing on strong voal hooks and quirky electronic sounds. Speaking about the track Minear mentions - "It [the song] channels Minear’s feelings around the current political climate into a rising, empowering anthem for women."
