Today sees the release of Pizza Crunch's soaring new track "Advertised Enlightenment", with this song acting as their first release since 2022's "The Art of Not Giving a Fuck".
Speaking about the song lyricist Ewan mentions - " ... "Advertised Enlightenment" revolves around the idea of looking for meaning and awakening but always being left disappointed with what you find." - which I feel like we can all relate to.
"Advertised Enlightenment" is a bold step forward for a Glasgow band that's on the cusp of breaking out of their scene, so be sure to give them a listen!
Vocally the Glasgow-based band has a strong tone that reminds me of a polished Ian Curtis with added swagger, as the sounds heard here are deep and croon throughout.
The guitars on this are layered perfectly, we've got a smattering of dreamy tones that dance around the track, mixed into that is a screaming rhythm guitar and a bassline that'll be able to shake your speakers to its core. One thing to add is that the drums on "Advertised Enlightenment" are flipping powerful too, they clearly have a drummer that can change the outcome of a song, as I found myself performing the drums on the train home (to the disappointment of the lady next to me).
