The Ontario-based singer-songwriter Lucas Köksal just last month unveiled his new single, "eye to eye", with it being his first outing since 2022's "Goodbye".
Speaking about the song Lucas says - " ... I created “eye to eye” during the Summer of 2023 when I first started using analog recording gear. This is also my first single release under AWAL and it will become part of my debut EP. The EP explores themes of isolation and a search for meaning. It contains 5 songs and will be released in Summer 2024."
The song is a high-tempo example of how to take dream-pop sounds and make them danceable.
The independent artist has a wealth of genres in his music, and even from the intro alone you can hear a blend of multiple alternative sub-genres floating about. The fast-paced beat really kicked things off for me and the hazy guitar tone laced upon it worked wonders too, but it's once you factor in his dreamy voice you'll end up getting on board with "eye to eye".
The song is a high-tempo example of how to take dream-pop sounds and make them danceable, with of course the addition of some addictive guitar sounds, so do yourself and everyone a favour and listen to "eye to eye" - and perhaps fall in love with a great emerging talent.
