Tornado Sky has released their stunning new single, "Beautiful Now", which also is their first release of the year following a solid 2023 with the release of a trio of songs. The track is incredibly enriched with soft and silky folk tones that are wrapped up in a summery sheen.
Silky folk tones that are wrapped up in a summery sheen.
The duo is made up of Stephanie Gladhart and Jerry Careaga, and it's Jerry who wrote songs for many 70s soft-rock greats (Bellamy Brothers, Michael Martin Murphy, etc) so with that knowledge in hand it's no wonder that this sounds like it was cherry-picked right out of that golden era of guitar music.
Vocally the track is leaning into the realm of Country, but at the same time, I'm reminded of the deep tones of Lou Reed. The tempo of the track is set just so that you'll be able to boogie along to it in a live setting, but not too fast that you'll be left behind. "Beautiful Now" is so damn wholesome, even down to the sweet backing vocals you can't help but have a smile on your face when listening to it.
