Coming out of Ypsilanti in Michigan is Hey Look Listen with her brand new fuzz-filled track, "Fill the Blanks". The track comes off the back of the single "P.S. You Rock My World" which was released via SoundCloud, and I have to tell you that this cut really hit me on the first listen.
Proper dreamy shoegaze sounds for all to get stuck into.
Hey Look Listen kicks things off in "Fill the Blanks" with a commanding bassline that beckons you into the track without realising. The drumbeat is perfectly set to give you a foot-stomping moment and when those big fuzz-filled guitars come in the track comes to full fruition.
Speaking of the track Hey Look Listen says - "Lyrically the song is about the dangers of shallow, surface level thinking and only taking things at face value, which more so than ever is becoming a dangerous problem." The dreamy vocals on the track is delightful too, with myself, getting reminded of 90s alt-rock music from the UK, specifically Portishead.
