James M LaRocque has returned with his third single of the year, titled "Lefty Lucy" it's a great example of what James is all about as it's got a wide selection of genres on show. You can hear an acapella opening up the track, and instantly after that you'll feel a smooth soul tone wrapping it all up. The vocals to in the background sound very surf-pop, a bit like The Beach Boys in places too.
Smooth, soulful and full of swinging vibes.
The Minneapolis singer-songwriter is more than just that as he is also a multi-instrumentalist, which may suggest why this track sounds as cohesive as it does.
Usually, we don't go into these kinda of soulful songs, but the presentation of it all honestly got me hooked on the first play. The track is also his first acapella song (he could've fooled me!) and at times there are twelve layers of vocals! Considering the only percussion on the track are finger-snaps, it's safe we are now fans of James!
