Marshall Oakman earlier this month released his relaxing new single, "When Life's Cold", and this new tune also marks the first release from the singer-songwriter since 2021.
Such a nostalgic-sounding song!
The single initially came out in 2023 but has recently been re-released via the music video. In the visuals it sees Oakman perform in a park, all in black and white helping to give it that visual edge over other music videos in the genre.
Back into the actual song, his vocals for me are the highlight as they remind me a lot of those crooning alternative singers in the 80s, with elements of Elton John added in seemingly for good measure. The delivery of the song is so smooth, and the production on it is rather delightful too.
There have been collaborations on his music with New York-based musicians Kasim Sultan (Joan Jett) on bass, Liberty Devitto (Billy Joel Band) on drums, and Paul Pesco (Madonna) on guitar in the past, so if you're looking for a new act to delve into why not make it Marshall Oakman
