At the start of November saw Jacob Reddy share their new EP, "These Streets Are Ours", and since then we've gone on to listen to it a few times and realised it's quite the belter of a release. Sitting in at five tracks long the release explores the sounds of the Blackburn quartet, and for us, the sounds here are a great example of what the British guitar scene is all about.
The first track has got some angsty vocals that reminded me a lot of Jamie T in places with warm guitar tones backing it up, you could easily have thought this was released in the middle of the 2000s as it's such a familiar sound.
"Crazy" is the track that's next up and it's the biggest cut on the release with over 50k streams on it, and for good reasons too as this to me sounds like the perfect track to close a live show on, as it encapsulates everything they're all about.
"Flowers" is more of a laid-back track with some funky bursts of guitar - read our review from September here - the next cut is equally as bold with the vocals one more beckoning you in before a sizzling guitar, thick bass and cascading drums welcome you in with an embrace, this to me sounds like another example of the band aiming for the big stages, this deserves thousands of fans pumping up and down to it!
Closing it all out is a new cut, and the longest on the release, "Streets". It's filled with atmospheric sounds that fill up every square inch of the room, simple percussion and emotive vocals that bring even the most casual listener in, it's a perfect track to wrap up the EP on and will no doubt leave you wanting more!
