Coming out of Linz in Austria is singer-songwriter Jakob Wedl, and just last Friday saw the artist drop his new single, "pretty backyard". The single comes out around the time he surpassed the 250k stream mark on Spotify, and judging by the quality of the new cut he will be getting another 250k soon too!
A quality emerging singer-songwriter that sounds like he's aiming for the big stages.
Jakob's vocals are so clean, smooth and remind me a lot of a young Ed Sheeran with how raw it feels. Once the track gets going the off-kilter guitar chiming away is a great addition to a rather straightforward track. But what the track does well is that it showcases some soaring synth moments, great effects on the vocals towards the latter half and a some strings that makes it even more atmospheric than anything Mr Sheeran has ever made.
Speaking of the song Wedl says - "This is frankly the hardest song to release so far. It's kind of a diary entry of some really tough times I went through. This gut-wrenching feeling when you have to let go of the person you thought you'd end up spending the rest of your life with, watching your children grow up, living in a small-town house with a pretty backyard."
