Based out of Arizona is Juno Empire - the music project of Alexander Thomas - and just a few days ago he released his debut single, "Gold Eyes".
Retro-inspired with warm psychedelic tones mixed in.
The opening few seconds of the song is a warm and edgy guitar that'll have you hooked in, and with the high-tempo drums, it's sure to go down well with anyone who loves the sounds of The Killers. As the track ticks on with the addition of synths, with the breakdown it gets very 1980s and almost feels like a SEGA game intro with how warm it feels.
Vocally we're in the same psychy realm that Kevin Parker (Tame Impala) is, but with all of the aforementioned sounds added in too it becomes mildly addictive, and that addiction will certainly continue.
I admire Juno Empire with the approach on the first track, there's nothing held back and it feels like an honest track in regards of what they're all about. As far as debut tracks go this is up there in the top 1%, sensational.
