... a hauntingly beautiful ballad—think Goo Goo Dolls in the rain meets Radiohead with a touch of Chris Isaak, all wrapped in reverb-drenched emotion from one of the UK’s most promising newcomers.
Right off from the bat it's not a track like his debut, as that was very upbeat, with this one being more of a subdued ballad that would happily fit into a setlist by Goo Goo Dolls. Why them? Well, the way the guitar makes me feel and how atmospheric it feels reminds me of the band performing "Iris" in the rain. It's incredibly emotional, with vocals that can easily transfer their emotion into the listeners head.
Of course, throughout the song, there is that big guitar laced in reverb, almost sounding like a Chris Isaak tune (you know the one) crossed with one of those more 'upbeat' Radiohead cuts. The fact that this is just his second release is rather mind-boggling. The sounds on offer definitely give me the impression he's been working hard at this for a while. So do yourself (and everyone else) a favour and be sure to get stuck into the sounds of Harry Eley before everyone else does.
