Based out of Brighton is Bardie, and they have recently revealed their brand new single, "Too Long", and this new offering is the follow-up to their debut single from 2023.
The single has a chilled opening with a simplistic structure of guitar, percussion and vocals kicking things off. It's very laid back and I was honestly hooked from there on in, and as the song went on by it evolved from a chilled alt-rock song to one that sounds rather arty.
... a laid-back alt-rock gem that slowly shapeshifts into an art-rock wonder
If I could compare this to another band I love, it would be Everything Everything, as Bardie has also added some unique structures to the song that help it stand out from the rest. The weird and quirky sounds continue as the track ticks on by, adding some harmonica to the mix, for which was the cherry on the cake.
Vocally, it's stunning, with the backing vocals doing a lot to get me on board too. Just do me a favour and be sure to stick around until the final third, as there's one huge guitar solo backed up with harmonica – it just works so well. Bardie, get to know them!
