London-based outfit Modern Guilt are back with a bold new offering, "You Know Who You Are", and if there was a track that could sum up their whole sound, this might just be it. The new single is the first since their EP came out back in March of 2024 and it's a welcome return for one of the best underground bands in the capital of the nation.
Edgy, raw indie-rock with Strokes-like swagger—Modern Guilt’s latest is a nostalgic yet fresh anthem that begs for repeat listens.
The warmth is there from the get-go with the tones that surround the guitars, and when the vocals came in, I felt like I was deep into a track by The Strokes. It's perfectly fresh and nostalgic at the same time, with plenty of pacing that'll keep the new listeners gripped minute by minute.
If I had to give it a rather specific round-up review, I'd say that this song sounds like it belongs on an EA Sports soundtrack, like the old-school 'FIFA' soundtracks.
If you don't get excited by this then you need to review your life choices, as we were blown away on the first listen, even my notes during my first play said 'wow, edgy and raw' and 'angsty indie-rock'. You need this in your life if you like The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys, The Vaccines (and so on) - they honestly could blow up at any second if you ask me.
